Some gases ("greenhouse gases") let sunlight in, which warms the Earth, and then block that heat from leaving. That's the "greenhouse effect", and it's a natural thing, mostly caused by water vapor.

Man is making excessive amounts of greenhouse gases, mostly by burning fossil fuels. That causes the delicate natural balance to go out of whack and the Earth warms. That's global warming.

It won't be a Hollywood style disaster. Gradually coastal areas will flood and agriculture will be damaged. But it will be very bad. Rich countries will cope, but it will take huge amounts of money. In poor countries many people will die of starvation, but not all of them.

Most scientists say, in 20-50 years. But we need to start right now to fix it, fixing it will take even longer than that.

Global warming is the theory that the earth is warming up. This is has been happening at an accelerated rate since the beginning of the industrial revolution, due to carbon emissions released into the air by machines that burn fossil fuels, such as factories and automobiles. If you would like to learn more, I recommend watching Al Gore's,Oscar winning documentary, An Inconvenient Truth.

this is a piece of the puzzle that puzzles you
we kill the parts of this planet that keep it cool and comfirtable ,by polution and the destruction of bio mass ,and create conditons that make it even hotter.

many people forget about desertification
desserts are like a fire they gobble up the edges with the heat and so grow.

forrests regulate the climate ,they absorb heat during the day and release it at night ,that is why desserts are freezing at night and cooking during the day

Forrests produce water ,and regulate the atmosphere we breathe (the absorb carbon )as well as protecting the earth from the sun
when forrest are being exchanged for ashalt, concrete and desserts
what is gonna keep this planet habitable for us

the carbon production is something else on top
and this seems to ocupy people the most
and the polution is something else again
all are factors in climate change

Global warming is a very complex collection of many effects

this text is limited to effects of people in the country, industrial effects on the environment and the internal combustion engine as well as the over all effects of cities and the ozone part of global warming,is another story,

climate change is caused partly by desertification ,and most desertification is caused by man
the thinner ozone layer helps to speed this up.and this is caused mainly by air polution ,also as a result of mans actions

there are natural cycles in the planets life
but a lot is influenced by mans existance ,and this is increasing with overpopulation, putting strains on Natural resources and increasing contaminations as well as destructions of essential componants the ensure living conditions for all life forms

in North Africa,India,Mexico ,millions of people are effected by land loss and desertification and some have died as a result

in china, thousands of what used to be farmers are running for their lives from the dust storms that have burried their towns and turned their lands into dessert,

,the Sahara is growing by 7 kilometers a year
and all of the desserts we know are a results of mans actions ,and they are increasing ,not getting less ,in the dinosaurs days ,there were no desserts.

collectively this planet is drying up because of bad farming practices like, over grazing and fertilizers,

each degree rise in temperature means 10%crop loss

and there is less and less water (because of deforestation),to irrigate this production ,
and there are less and less farmers to do it..
and there are 70 million more peole every year that have to eat and drink and wash

who are overpumping deep carbon aquifiers
who are plowing more and more unstable lands because they have lost so many million hectares to desertification ,
because of bad farming practises ,such as using fertilizers and heavy machinary or over grazing

RISING SEAS
The northpole is melting ,and we will know it without ice in our life times.
this does not affect the sea level because it is ice that is already in the water.but the melting ice from Green land and the south pole ,are another matter.

U are right it was a cold year . Everything is doing better and it has warmed up fine and there is no hole in the ozone layer.

It's a political scam that tries to blame the normal warming of the planet on cars and industry.

The earth is starting to warm up due to pollutants that us humans are making. Its going to ruin the world. Last night on the news they said by 2100, the Everglades would be gone.

global warming.. first of all its not a myth or a way to screw us from any money we make.. global warming is becuase of the GREEN HOUSE affect... like a green house it traps carbon dioxide and other harfull chemicals. this causes ice to melt becuase of the rising temperatures... our planet, if we dont do anything about it will be like venus, hot, and full of poisonous gas. so please take this information and save our planet for your kids and theres, becuase if we dont do anything... well we are screwed

A scare story hyped up by environmentalists & a few scientists to ensure research funding keeps coming into their pockets

Oh, and now governments too, now they've realised it's a BRILLIANT excuse to try screw a bit of extra tax money out of everyone.

well, its when the ozone layer starts to disintegrate and it it making the rays from the sun be brighter and since the sun is brighter it is hotter, therefore causing global warming!
