I have honestly never met an ill-behaved Mormon. Of course, their religion is a joke, but that said, every mormon I have ever met treated me very kindly.

Now older and wiser, I understand why Mormons have always been friendly...because this is part of their religious programming. For most people "what" you say isnt what persuades, it how you behave toward them.

Mormons are specifically instructed to act with extreme kindness as a means to show the virtue of their religion, and because Mormon brainwashing systems are so successful, they are able to achieve a consistent result accross the board.

"So what" you say. I guess I dont care.only that Stepford-like communes do scare me, because, as with Islam, the programming can go another direction (Jihad).

Muslims are similar to Mormons in behavior, are they not? Islam, like Mormonism is able to program uniform behavior, that has a plesant-side (Dr. Jekyl), however as we all know, this brainwashing also serves Jihad...

I find it very curious that you find good behavior and kindness as suspicious. If the mormons were mean, you would probably find that suspicious. Mayb you should just worry about your own behavior. How do you treat others? How do you feel about those around you? The only person we can control is ourselves. If we try to be good ourselves, then we will find our way a lot better in life.
Just for the record, I am a Mormon, and i am proud of it. As others have said before me, we believe in free agency. No one is forced to do anything. There is not one single bad thing about our church, or our people who are from all over this world. Whereever you go, you will find us as a peaceful, harmonious people. Maybe some day you will be able to see the truth for yourself. May God Bless.

Let us look at this in an honest manner.

1) People's views of our religion are a joke. They actually believe they know our reasons to be a Mormon. Let me tell you something about myself, I was a skeptic and an Agnostic before I became a LDS. I was not indoctrinated, instead I did a lot of research and found this to be the true Church. I researched mostly anti Mormon remarks, and every time I researched such anti Mormon remarks I found that they were lies.

2) The Church will never tell me to harm another person. Lets say in a completely unreal hypothetical situation it did I would feel that the Church had gone into apostasy and leave it.

3) Brainwashed:
====
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brainwashing
Dorland's Medical Dictionary defines brainwashing, also known as thought reform or re-education, as "any systematic effort aimed at instilling certain attitudes and beliefs in a person against his will, usually beliefs in conflict with his prior beliefs and knowledge."[1] The concept has not been officially accepted by the American Psychological Association, neither has it been officially rejected,[2] but has received more attention from the APA in recent
====

We are not forced to believe anything. We believe in free agency. When was the last time you saw Mormons telling you you're going to hell if you do not follow our religion? It does not happen. We send out missionaries to spread the word, not force our views on people.

Now look at most of the questions regarding Mormons on this site, whom is the one trying to force their views on whom?

4) The Muslims I know are loving, and caring people who would never kill anyone. I also researched their religion and saw the same thing, lies being spread about their beliefs. Anti Islamist claim them to be hateful, it is funny that most of the Muslims on this board are very civil, polite and loving people. We need to take geography, political events and other factors into consideration when we look at the wars occurring in this world. Atheism, Christianity, and all people of all faiths can do horrible things in the wrong situations.

5) Mormons, Atheists, Agnostics, Christians, Muslims, and all people have a lot in common.

Thank you for the honest question, God bless and keep searching for answers but also look at the source. Go to Islam sites for information regarding Islam, and go to LDS for information regarding LDS. Research claims made about both religions.

they are both conservative
i know that for sure.
by the way just for your information, this is the true meaning of jihad:
the literal translation of jihad is struggle, the prophet Muhammad may peace and blessings be upon him said that there were two kinds of struggles.
one of them being the lesser rewarding, a physical struggle, this can vary from something as little as having a hard time lifting weights to having trouble defeating an enemy in battle (not necessarily through hand to hand combat)
the second kind the prophet mentioned which he also mentioned to be the more rewarding, was the emotional or spiritual struggle which entails something along the lines of keeping your identity as a Muslim or struggle to find God. God bless

I found more brainwashing, mind progamming, in pentecostal and evangelical churches than would ever be in our church.

Of course, all CHristians are SUPPOSED to act with extreme kindness. Why would we not?

And, no, we do not have anything in common with Islam. I don't see any stepford-like conditions. I know that, in Utah, there might be a tendency for some Mormons to stick together, but that's not supposed to happen.

Ok similarities...

1. We love God (Allah is the same as God)

2. We dress modestly... ok we Mormons dont go to the extent that the Muslims do, but hey, we're still modestly dressed.

3. We use the Ten Commandments.

4. We Accept all the Prophets of the Bible, but both of our religions have more Prophets.

Differences...

1. Latter-Day Saints accept Jesus Christ as their Saviour. Muslims do not.

Need I say more?

Good Mormons also choose not to take offense at your tactless and crass comment about their religion being a joke.

Have you ever met a Mormon Army drill sergeant? You'd be surprised.

Have you considered that Mormons are closer to the scriptural truth, than most 'Christians' in USA would presently realize?

I am Mormon, and sometimes I am not very nice.
Mormons act kind because that is how Jesus acted.
