I tell him who he shouldn't go out with and everything. I only do it because I don't want him to get hurt really bad. If he gets hurt that just means I have to do someting about it. Is it right for me to do this?

It's only natural that you want to protect your brother and want only what's best for him but in reality, we all have to take our "bumps and bruises". We learn from them and this is called "life's teacher's".

Sometimes it's hard to sit back and see those we love get hurt but after we have advised them, it's up to them to do with the information given as they will. Sometime they listen, sometime they won't - but we can't force them to do anything.

Just be there when he needs you. (and please don't say, "I told you so"). :)

you shouldn't meddle in your brother's private life. If he confides in you, you can always give him advice. But don't be mad or offended if he doesn't listen. He will have to learn on his own. If he gets hurt, just be there for him, and that's all that you can do. If you meddle, in the long run you will be the bad guy.

You are only showing your concern for him...but let him figure out some things for himself.

nope. stay out of it. period. it's his life and he needs to make his own mistakes,if they are mistakes. that's the only way he'll learn. one day you'll go to far. then you'll have hell to pay.
