No. That's how his name was translated, in Hebrew it's Yeheshua or Yeshua, it's Eesa in Arabic. Joshua is formed by contracting Yahweh with yeshua: In Greek and Latin it is (pronounced YA [as in day] soos ), and is written Iesus in Latin. Thus, it evolved to "Jesus."

Yes, Jesus was actually called Jesus back in his time. It says so in the bible. By the way, Jesus is with a capital J... It's His name.
