Only if you as a parent allow it to. It is all about gaining control and discipline when they are very young. You also need to respect your child and do not give them every thing their hearts desire. I am sure that you were not that bad. Also, if you are talking about yourself in regards to what your parents are like, you have the power to be anything are anyone you want, you are not them you are you. You make the choice of who you are going to be.

People are a product of both environmental influences and genetic influences, meaning that it is never possible to predict the personality of a newborn child. People's personalities are also not static due to the environmental nuances they face day to day. Alternately if both parents carry a homozygous genetic disorder then it is guaranteed that the child will inherit whatever disorder it is. It depends on what you mean by "bad". This question is too subjective...

No, if that was true what would happen if one parent was really a good kid and the other was a terror? It is just something some moms used to tell their kids to try to scare them into behaving.

Okay, let's look at this mathematically. We'll assume that one generation is 25 years, so on average the people of the current generation will be twice as bad (or good; that is to say their goodness or badness will be twice as far from the zero point) as the generation before, and of course vice versa. This makes four generations per century, which is 2^4=16 times farther from the zero point for every additional century. Under these conditions, only 1000 years ago people were over a TRILLION TIMES more neutral than people are now. 6000 years ago, they would be more neutral by such a large factor that it would have 73 digits! Similarly, only 200 years in the future, people will be 256 times as far from the zero mark as they are now; considering that many people alive now are significantly either good or bad, in the year 2207 almost everybody will be either horrendously evil and sadistic or angelically gracious and compassionate.

And in fact, this leads to another interesting idea. As things stand, e=mc^2 means that humans are able to devise weapons that are far more powerful than any kind of defense. We have the technical capability, if not the actual equipment, to destroy the human race. And while good, compassionate, moral people will not press 'the button' and blow everything up, it only takes ONE sufficiently evil person to do it. As the total scale of evil and good in people increases over time, the proportion of people who are sufficiently evil to blow everything up will presumably converge towards a half (this is assuming half of people are good and half of people are evil such that it tends to balance out). So, given that many people already exist who are evil enough to blow everything up if given the chance, by the time another 200 years are up it is highly likely that someone will press the button and blow everything up. In fact, it would seem that we would pretty much automatically be doomed within the next few hundred years at most.

Now, if we take the biblical account of creation, that says the world was created a little under 6000 years ago. This means it would be possible for God, upon creating the world, to determine the point at which we all blow ourselves up with a large degree of accuracy just by modifying two parameters at the point of creation: One, the scale of human good and evil at that time, and two, the constant for the evil multiplier per generation (which of course we're assuming is 2). In other words, God would have known to within, say, 1000 years or so when we would blow ourselves up.

So, if the answer your question is that it's true...THEN WE ARE ALL HEADING ON A DIRECT COURSE FOR ARMAGEDDON! THE ONLY WAY TO PREVENT THE DESTRUCTION OF THE HUMAN RACE IS TO STOP HAVING BABIES IMMEDIATELY!

In other words, no, it is not true.

NOT TRUE - your baby will turn out as the "parent" has raised it. Both my parents are illiterate and did not finish high school. All seven of their children have excelled and own our own homes and have great jobs.
