What can you use to listen to them? What frequency are they on?

I have heard what I believe is air traffic control once on my radio but I have no idea what frequency it was and can't seem to get it again. Also, I'm not sure if it's Metro's ATC.

i dont think so. i might be wrong though. however, i do remeber 1 or 2 flights ive been on. the pouch with the safety manuals and sky magazine, used to have headphones in them. the armrest had a headphone plug-in and two little buttons. one was volume and the other was the channel selector. some channels would have radio stations. never anything good on. it was like classic and opera and stuff. but 1 channel, you could hear the pilot of the plane and air traffic control feeding him course changes and what not. it was pretty cool. it was northwest airlines i believe. dont know if there are any planes with them still. but sorry. i just though it was interesting.

Yes, with a cheap scanner from radio shack. It's just VHF.

The frequencies are public knowledge. If you have a scanner you should be able to listen. If you also have a transmitter it IS against the law to transmit (talk) on ATC frequencies (and yes, you can be located.)

There are DTW's freq's.

UNICOM: 122.95
ATIS: 133.675(734)
WX ASOS: PHONE 734-941-7848
METRO GROUND: 119.25 SOUTHEAST 119.45 NORTHEAST 121.8 NORTHWEST 132.72 SOUTHWEST

If you go here, http://www.airnav.com/airport/KDTW, it gives you the freqs. You need a receiver capable of receiving VHF.
