i have a toddler that's 2 yrs and one month. i have been told he is very smart beyond his age. the only thing i have ever done is spend time with him. constantly talk to him and repeat repeat repeat.. when she asks what something is or points tell her five or six times what it is. i also taught him basic sign language hes been talking since he was 18 months so that hasn't hindered his speech in any way. he has a very clear vocabulary and he speaks long sentences. Help her to figure things out take the time to show her everything. also i think a very large factor that many parents fall short on is consistency.. if its no once its no always.. and theres consequences to every action and they are the same every time.. don't say no if your gonna say yes later.. After is a awseme word that satisfies him cause he knows that right now is not a good time for whatever but later on it will change...these are the things i have done wt my boy and i have total strangers telling me how incredibly bright he is. i also think that jeans are a big part of being smart . but most importantly i think its the consistency with limits and boundaries that make a person smarter when they grow up. then their not confused.

Try to read to her everyday, don't speak to her in baby talk. Show her things and explain them to her. You would think a 5 month old wouldn't understand, but they start to learn the stuff your teaching her little by little.

don't push education too fast, but if so but baby einstein tapes they help a lot with a child's abilities and also, take at least 30 minutes a day to play and interact with the child, this also helps stimulate their brain. Baby steps, but remember just don't push too it hard!

Start reading books to her now if you haven't already and make reading a forever routine in your family- even when she is able to read on her own.

Best wishes

alot of time and less concentrating on "makung her smarter"...thats a stupid misconception forced onto mothers by "learning toy" makers.
all kids are smart, just give them love and time!
