Nope. I did 10 years with the USMC. I thank the Navy every day though. My dad was Navy, as was my grandfather.
And the Navy ships carried me all over the world for 10 years

I'm in the Navy. I have been in 3 years and 5 months. I'm just about to finish my first tour of sea duty onboard the USS Essex...homeported in Japan. I've seen some amazing things and places...but at the same time, I've only been able to make it home twice (for 2 weeks at a time) in the last 3 years. I've also paid off all my debt and still have $15,000 in the bank. This has been a rough command but if 3 years overseas doesnt build character, I dont know what the hell will.

yes, the Navy, like all the services, is a respectable endeavour. If you are considering joining, contact a recruiter and just be honest. In terms of the most 'military' branches, I would put it 3 out of 4. With the Marines being 1st, Army 2nd, Navy 3rd, and Air Force 4th.

So if you are looking for a middle of the road military lifestyle and not the 'eat, sleep, and drink the CORPS!' attitude than the Navy may be for you. Also it is good to be comfortable with boats and water.

I thought about it in 1984... and entered boot camp on 24 March 1985 at NRTC Orlando Florida.

I enjoyed my 15 years of US Naval service
