So, I was thinking about getting some new kittens and declawing them and then giving them away, what do all you freaks out there who think declawing is oh so bad, think about that?

And yeah Audry- I do value my furniture, I dont want to live like trash. But I seriously do love cats, kittens, animals in general. I just get sick of people verbally attacking people who ask questions about having their cat declawed.

Audry-
To what you said:
Edit:
But, you are verbally attacking those who think its bad. Everyone is allowed their own opinion on this very controversial subject. You have made it quite obvious what yours is. Please let the others have theirs as well.
My answer:
A lot of people who are "anti-declawing" dont let anyone else state their opinion. They just throw out hateful things. I am totally not adopting any kittens and declawing them. I just said it irritate a lot of the people below who answered. I personally love cats. I have never declawed a cat. Read the answer I gave to the question on one positive for declawing.

Do what you want. Personally I think its great! Think of all the people who don't get cats because they don't want them destroying the house with their claws. Wow I wish more people were like you! I think if more cats in shelters were declawed....more would get adopted! In fact my friend got her cat because the original owner had him but he was scratching up her baby and no vets would declaw him.
Oh man and outdoor cats. Another stupid idea since we all wouldn't let our children run free in the street to get poisoned or kidnapped or killed......

I had to give a cat away and the cat had been declawed and it went to an elderly lady that was happy that she had been declawed. It is peoples choice to get their cats declawed.
The cat I have is declawed and she does not care . She did not use a scratching post she used my leg for one.

I'm sorry, but I don't get your reasoning. Are you going to pull from shelters and then declaw /give them away? I actually know of some rescues that do that and I don't approve. Sure, more people *might* want the cat and adoptions *might* go up, but I think I don't think it says anything about their commitment when I notice that the majority of cats being giving away on craigslist and other avenues are already declawed. Do you actually know why people think declawing is cruel? Do you know that they amputate part of the toe instead of the common conception of: cutting the claw off? It is in no way humane or necessary when there are alternatives like religiously clipping nails/Soft Paws/Scratching posts. If you already knew that and are still going along with your "plan," just take a second and think about why the procedure is now illegal in many countries. There's a reason.
And I don't appreciate being called a freak because I don't condone animal abuse. I see nothing wrong with adopting an already declawed cat, but to get one declawed... IMO there are no excuses except for perhaps some rare ones I haven't heard of yet.
Just wondering, why are you so defensive about this situation?
Edit** nvm, just read your history... seems like you're in denial. I find that weird, when even veterinarians, ones that aren't thinking of profits but of the animal's welfare, advise against it. I hope you get blacklisted from shelters and rescues.

My roommate bought these rubber tips that you can apply to the claws. They work great. Declawing really is inhumane, yeah they can live normals lives without claws but dang I just wonder what a life would be like without being able to pick my nose/open soda cans. I think your mother must have declawed half your brain when you were born.

I am not a fan of declawing, but may I suggest... If you are going to give them away, let the new owners make that decision. If there is any chance they will be outdoors... it's really not a good idea. They would not be able to defend themselves at all. Think about it...(on a humorous note) I had a declawed cat who use to welcome my guest by nipping them in the butt when they sat...he use to use his claws...

I am someone that is for declawing cats...my reasons stated in a different post..but seriously..what is the point in this post? It sounds really catty..no pun intended....and what is the point in getting cats, declawing them, and then giving them away? i agree it should be up to an individual owner as to whether or not they want their OWN cat to be declawed....

Why is it being a freak to think that mutilating an animal is wrong? If you value your furniture so much don't get a cat. Or a dog... or any other living creature for that matter. A stuffed animal would be a good idea...
Anger counseling may work nicely for you...

I used to take in cats that needed a home and some of them were declawed. they held their own with the cats with claws. they didn't know they couldn't do stuff so they did, like climbing the scratching post or opening the front door for fresh air. I'd wait til the kittens were 6 months old though.

I personally believe you shouldn't declaw cats but that's me. If you feel the need to do this then that's your personal choice no one can stop you.
Please make sure that who you give those kittens to will make sure they stay inside the house because the poor things won't be able to defend their self if attacked by another animal.

why? what point are you makeing? i just want to know one good reason to declaw a cat. i understand you must have reasons, i just can't figure it out. do you like couseing something pain for no real reason but becouse you are selfish. maybe someone should have catherized you instead of teaching you to use the toilet. if you are going to be a jerk don't post any questions.

I would get my cats decawed if you r a responsible pet owner then your cat wont get our and die from other cats. Declawing them saves them from death by husband when they try to climb up his leg trying to get his attention.
