It completely depends on the model and the components.

Giants are Great. I had the same question when I went looking for my last MTB. I narrowed my search down to the Giant Trance and the specialized Stump Jumper. I road both and preferred the Giant. The Giant seems a little heavier, but it performs great off road. I suggest that you ride both of them and choose. My friends and I are split on this topic half of us prefer the Giant and the other half like the Specialized. I think that you get more bang for your buck out of the Giant.

A Giant dealer will tel you that, Oh Yeah, we make Specialized!!! The company that owns Giant, owns most of the asian factories that produce bikes!

I will tell you, they offer one of the biggest bangs for the buck.

I would encourage you to test ride a lot of bikes before you buy anything - what works good for one, may not be good for the other!

It is very comparable if you're comparing similar bikes. Giant is one of the largest manufacturer of bikes, in fact, it builds bikes for several other companies. They're very worthwhile to buy from. And they offer a lot of value for the price.

Although I'm sort of a Specialized fan, Giant really is up to par.
