No, actually, it's better to keep them together during a molt, and I'll tell you why...
Behind their head, they can't preen those feathers themselves. In the wild, they'd normally have a mate do this for them. In captivity, if it's a single bird, the owner does it for them. And if they've got a mate, then that's their job.
Aside from the fact that they have each other to warm them up, it's just better all around if you've got a pair already to just keep them together through the molt.

The only time you would need to keep birds away from one another is if they are fighting, sick, or if you get a new bird to make sure it is not sick. Having the birds together through the molting process is no big deal. It would be a good idea to go and buy some molting food, mine like it and it helps keep them healthy. I feed mine seeds, pellets, fresh foods (like carrots), and cuttle bone to make sure they are getting everything they need in their diets.

All birds molt, by using fact the previous poster says. be sure you complement their feedings while they do molt, because it takes slightly out of them wellbeing-smart. you should purchase particular seed fortified with supplements and minerals.

no, when the new feathers come in gradualy they have a waxy coding on them. other birds help each other get this coatting off.
