How much RAM is usually required for this system to work properly?

You can use any version of Office with Vista, alternatively you can use Open Office which is free and open source. You will need at least 1 GB of RAM although 2 GB would be better.

If you or your company rely on MS access, you had better do a test of your apps with Vista. I had some real trouble with the runtime for both 2003 and 2007. This is not solved yet, and I will post something when it gets resolved.

vista needs a lot of ram, but if you bought a comp that was vista ready then you will be fine
