We can't just withdraw because if we do there will be a big civil war and their will be GENOCIDE. If you think we should just withdraw you support genocide. I know that we can't stay their forever but, can't just leave either. Also, Bush has not done what is nescesary to end this war either. Many politicians say that Iraq needs to make an agreement between Sunnis and Shiites in government to stop their fighting. This would then bring peace to Sunnis and Shiites and would stop much terrorism and civil war and genocide. What do you thionk we should do?

I know that there is already a civil war and genocide in Iraq but, if the USA leaves it will be worse. We must have 6-party talks with Sunnis, Shiites, and Khurds to work together to create a government they all like and will accept. Thsi will help stop the violence in Iraq. Also, if we withdraw and Iran invades them they will persecute the Sunnis.

I think we should build a time machine there and use it to go back to a time before the war (before Saddam, WWI or the Ottoman Empire perhaps), and stop the whole fiasco before it starts. This solution is just as realistic as any others.

It's funny how you ask the question and deny the relevance of an opinion opposite of yours at the same time. Of course the US should leave. The Iraqi masses will not accept the US imposed constitution anyway. There will be no peace as long as the Iraqi government is perceived to be the puppet of the US. "There will be a big civil war..." you say...HELLO... have you watched FOX News or CNN this year. The civil war is in full effect.

The Sunnis are fighting the US backed Iraqi gov't that threw them out of power. The Shia are exacting revenge for decades of oppression by the Sunnis. And Al-Qaeda in Iraq is now calling itself the Islamic Republic of Iraq, setting up a gov't and distancing themselves from Osama bin Laden. The roadside bombs are designed to keep the Americans occupied while genocide takes place wholesale. Oops...I forgot...the genocide won't happen until the US leaves according to your logic.

The best thing for the US to do is withdraw completely...allow it to boil/bubble over...it will subside in time...and eventually there will be an Islamic gov't in Iraq, backed by Iran and there will be protection and financial aid to the Sunni's from the Saudi's and Jordanians. Americans just need to wake up.....~~~~W

The Iraqi people are going to have to solve this by themselves. The more we butt into these kinds of situations, the worse the results. When they get tired of killing each other and the more stable people start to talk, things will get better. But having a foreigen army in your backyard does not help anything. Some say we are preventing a civil war. With all the dead and injured civilians there , what do you call the situation? Sunnis and Shiites have lived in the area since the days of the bible live. They will work this out if left to their own devices.

Did we learn anything when fighting Japan? Big bombs work! Drop one on Tehran, then one on Syria, and watch the Iraqi people come around regardless of whether they are Sunni, Shite or Kurd. We do not need a troop surge, we just need to be able to utilize what we have for such situations. The radical muslim jihadist have proven their bombs work, why can't we show them what a real bomb will do? Instead of preserving the idiot Arabs, lets kill them all and make Iraq another state of the USA,,,TAKE OVER! WIN! FIGHT! I know the pacifist democrats are not going to like my answer but it is the only solution that will solve the problem after everything else has failed. You can't have it both ways.

Partition the country into three regions, a Sunni, a Shi'ite, and a Kurdish. Provide for equitable distribution of oil income. Get OUT. Withdraw to Kuwait so that if Al Qaeda or a radical Iran faction takes power they can easily be bombed out of existence. Then go to Afghanistan and finish liquidating the Taliban as soon as possible.

If anyone can get the Sunni's, Shiite, and Kurds to work together to form a government, it will be the first time since Emperor Constantine. However, he that does will be remembered as a saint no matter what else he/she can be accused of.

Do what we have been doing and finish the job. The plan all along is working fine but I know the Dems will say otherwise. We went in disposed a saddist and murdering ruler, turn the control over to the Iraqi people, they elected a government, it's in place, we built new schools, new hospitals, new libraries, new infrastructure, taringin an new army and police force and as they step up, we withdraw little by little!

Take all of the media out of Iraq and let the soldiers do their jobs without having to worry about things like 'it took you 10 bullets to kill that insurgent.couldn't you have done it with 1 bullet?' If the soldiers and generals were allowed to do their job without having to look over their shoulders to explain everything then the war would be won and done so soon, and we could then start to slowly pull out and get most soldiers home to their families.
