The teens clubs are actually pretty cool on cruises. I know a lot of teens don't usually want to go cause they don't think it will be fun, but I think you should always check it out and look at the daily activities they will offer.
THe biggest thing on a cruise is to not miss the first activities they offer in the kids clubs. If you don't go to the "get to know you" activities, then you will feel a little out of place if you just show up later in the week.
The teen programs are usually more of a hang out type thing than a baby-sitting thing like many kids may think. Sometimes they have them to feel more like a coffee house, or in the case of NCL it is a disco them, I believe. They have different activites, things like sports, games, dances, watching movies, things like that. They may also offer parties or just "hanging-out" around the ship. A lot of times they have late-night activities offered as well. The nice thing about the teens club is that you have a little more freedom than younger kids do. You don't have to have an adult to sign you in and out, so you can come and go as you please. If you make a friend, or several, you can go to the show, eat, etc. on your own. So it can be a lot of fun.
There are usually a lot of tears on the last night of the cruise. Many times the kids will spend the whole evening together and stay up late into the night before they have to say goodbye. A lot of good friendships can happen on a cruise, so you definitely don't want to miss out on a good time.
I've included a link to Cruise Critic, you can look up info on your ship and get more info on the teen club. The site provides info on each specific ship, so it won't be so generic and it will be geared more for your cruise. You can also go to the message board and ask questions about the teen club, you may even find some other members that will be on the ship at the same time, that is your age and you can hang out with.
If you still aren't sure about the teen club, just check it out, you may be surprised.

It depends on the kind of kid. I have been in the clubs for Royal Caribbean, Carnival, and NCL. I am an intelligent kid, but I love fun. RCL gave me the best time, NCL was a close second. So yeah. Its pretty good. I say go when something interests you, not just to go. Or if you make friends and they go. Its not all about the kids thing. The cruise offers so much to do. You don't have to do scavenger hunts, and play PS2 all day.

Only teens can tell you for sure whether they are REALLY fun. But from what I have seen as I pass by what they are doing they ARE having fun if for no other reason than they are away from parents and doing stuff with other teens. I have seen some of the teens dressed to have a party in the teen disco club and they looked like they were having a great time. Remember that the teen clubs are mostly for those days when the ship does not dock, "at sea" days, and the parents are chilling laying in a lounge chair. So the kids get to go to their own place and talk and do projects and games with other kids their age, listen to music that kids want to listen to.

From experience and general knowledge from what I've heard the teens really never want to leave and their are some areas that are parent free and you can just do whateve yrou want and everything. I think thast kind of cool. I hear that sometimes the kids make a ton of friends and they stay in touch forever.. I dont know but you should have fun.. theirs always something to do on a cruise.
