What about shampoos? I do not buy flea and tick shampoo because the vet said it is to drying for my dog. (English springer spaniel) any recommendations for that? is there a good conditioner or should i avoid them? thanks for your help.

my friend bought that for her cat, and her cat ended up having a bad reaction to it, and she ended up having to put her cat to sleep. i really would NOT use that product. Good old Hartz should work just fine. Take the Sergeants back RIGHT NOW!

I have heard of people trying Hartz and Sergeants drops in hope of saving money also and had no luck with either after the first couple of days. fleas are still there. The things smell so bad that you can’t stand to snuggle with your pup without a clothespin on your nose and if you have children you are constantly telling them to leave the dog alone as they have a new flea meds on their backs that they shouldn’t touch. The drops from the vet may have been expensive but it'll be worth every penny when you pet has no fleas. I recommend Frontline Plus. Its the only brand that is waterproof, soaks in fast, and won't wash off when you bathe them. I would give it a day to adhire itself to the hair follicles in the skin. I don't recommend using that brand or Hartz for that matter once I found out about the dangers associated with pets dying or becoming very ill as a result of using them. Please consult with your vet before trying any OTC flea medicines. Check out the link below for the Archives of real and horrifying stories of the victims of these crimes. Vets see about 200 cases a year from the Hartz and Sergeant's brand products. They also said that both companies are well aware of the problem but do nothing to stop it. So please, all of you who read this, do not buy Sergeant's flea products either. These companies do not care about our pets...to them it's all about the money.

Do NOT use this product. OTC products are NOT safe to use. They can cause some serious burns at the application site, neurological issues, seizures and death.

While the flea products from the vet may be expensive they are safe and they are guaranteed by the drug company that makes them.

I can't tell you the number of pets that come in to the hospital every year with serious reactions to OTC flea products.

The reason it's cheap is because it doesn't work. I know it gets a bit expensive, but the flea treatments you get from the vet's office are far superior to what you can get from a superstore.
There are places online where you can get Frontline and Advantage for half the price that it is at the vet's (even with shipping). I get mine here: http://www.petshed.com/

regrettably some dogs are illiberal of particular issues. Sargents is the main inexpensive product on the industry, and in step with danger Hartz Mountain. yet you ought to purchase an costly decision and a few dogs would have problems with it. between the maximum recent flea repellents is extremely deadly if the dogs or cat licks it. The lively element is "fipronil". i've got self belief it fairly is advertised as "front Line". there is sufficient in one scientific care to kill a huge dogs if he gets it in his mouth. often it fairly is utilized to their lower back. It does not take in into the floor alright, so it fairly is a sturdy decision, yet whilst they consume it that is going to kill them. we would desire to continually be careful whilst treating animals. it fairly is lots extra ideal to handle our environment (residing house, backyard, mattress) than the animal-continually.
