At the time of the American Revolution, those who considered themselves as being Christian were Tories. Supporters of Englands rule. They believed it was wrong to rebel against authority, even if that authority was across the ocean. So why should any symbol we have, honor the cowardly?

This country was raised up on a Contract GOD made with the Pilgrims.
GOD needed a platform to go ye into all the world.

let us not forget that they refer to god as "Creator" in the bill of rights.
that is what the Native Americans call their god.
and th elaws and principals of the country closely mimick the Iriquoi tribal council, in both the system of checks and balances and the inalienable human rights.
