I asked a question similar to this and was (almost) surprised to see that some "Muslims" (Mohammadeans) flatly deny that people are leaving Islam.
Some of them use "logic" such as...
"Islam is the fastest growing religion, so how can people be leaving it?"
Others try to debunk the sources with retorts such as...
"That is from an anti-Islamic Christian Jewish media source"
...as if ANY and ALL historical or contemporary facts which do not glorify Islam are the result of a malicious conspiracy.
When you ask "Muslims" (Mohammadeans) about their sources, they tend to be a bit evasive and cagey. They REFUSE to CONFESS that countries with the highest birth rates tend to have a Muslim majority (70% to "100"%), and that emmigration from predominantly Muslim countries is at an all-time high.
Lying with statistics is increadibly easy and deceptive.
Is "Islam" gaining the most CONVERTS, or are they simply breeding more?

Muslims convert to Christianity all the time. There are several Christian ministries that work exclusively in reaching Muslims with the true Ingil (Gospel). It's just that converts that live in Muslim countries are afraid to "come out" openly for fear of being killed for apostasy from Islam. They also experience those fears to a lesser extent in Western countries. At best, the will be faced with ostracizism from their family and friends.
Although the Koran teaches that there is to be no complusion in religion, the penalty for turning away from their faith is death. Despite the claims of the atheists and agnostics on this site, no one is killing anyone for leaving Christianity or Judaism. I feel sad for those you turn their backs on Christ, but I don't have the urge (or even the Scriptural admonition) to kill them.

I KNOW Muslims who have left Islam.
The statistics are decpetive for many reasons- and I asked a similiar question a while back and got similiar answers. a few things:
(1) The penalty for leaving Islam is death. At the least in the west, a Muslim risks shunning from their family. So many Muslims who become Christians or other religions(and some have even converted to Judaism) do so quietly, to avoid rebuking by family and friends, simply pretending to be less "pious" Muslims. In Muslim nations, they keep a really low profile, as this risks their lives.
(2) Go to a Muslim forum or message board and you will see one of the hot topics is how Muslims are converting to Christianity in droves in Africa.
(3) Muslims have extremely high birthrates which skews the numbers greatly.
(4) In American prisons, many inmates "convert" to Islam, leave prison, go back to prison, get converted again, leave prison, and on and on. Each time, they are counted as a convert sometimes up to a dozen times. If the Muslim prison conversion rate were accurate, 90% of those in prison would be Muslim- that simply isn't the case at all.
There are other religious organizations which fudge numbers, but none uses the "fastest growing religion" pitch as effectively as Muslims.

People convert to and from almost every religion. I don't know what the statistics are, but I do know far more people who have converted TO Islam, than those who have converted FROM Islam. However, it does work both ways. That's just a fact. It's like this for all religions, with the exception that a few religions do not accept converts.

Of course they do. I'm Muslim and I do not deny it.
And if someone thinks they can find their salvation in another religion, all I can say is that I hope your happy, and hope you continue to be a good person.
Somebody else's religion and path in life does not make me feel that my decisions in life have been wrong. I think that you are listening to the wrong Muslims.
But please I ask you not to ever use the term Mohammadeans for Muslims, that is not appropriate and it goes against what we believe in. I have never heard that term before and I do not know where you got it from. Muslims are NOT supposed to worship to, or even pray to the Prophet, so your term is not correct.

Ditto.
I know a few ex-Muslims.
And that includes a woman who fled for her life from....on second thought, let's just say she fled for her life with the help of Christian missionaries whose lives were also in danger.
It is an eye-opening story!
Hmmm....maybe they think nobody is leaving Islam because they know that, in many places, to convert from Islam is to sign your own death warrant. However, are people being held in a faith by fear of death really adherents to that faith?
I think we can look to the history of the Christian church, to answer that question......
