I'm looking for a good place to go in late August or late December, preferably all-inclusive and adults only. I was thinking possibly somewhere in the Caribbean. Is this a good place to go at those times of the year? Or any other suggestions?

Basically I just want to lay around at a pool or beach and do nothing :)

Assuming you are a U.S. citizen, your best bet would be to travel to Puerto Rico or the U.S. Virgin Islands. Going to these locations avoids the hassle of International travel since they are U.S. territories. And as such, no passport is required and you avoid customs.
The Wyndham Sugar Bay resort (4-stars) in St. Thomas and the Paradisus (5-stars) in Puerto Rico are both all-inclusive though neither is adults-only.
August is within hurricane season. December is always a good time to escape.

There are lots of places in the bahamas and the virgin islands. Puerto Rico is nice , visit the rain forest, lay on the beaches of Luguillo, it is one of the nicest and close to the rain forest. It is also close to Old San Juan which is a beautiful day trip. Everyone speaks English there. However, remember that from Jue 1st until the end of November, you are going to have to deal with Hurricaine season, which could spoil your entire trip.

if you want to go somewhere off the beaten track and do a lot of sightseeing try Guatemala. Antigua and the small towns are gorgeous the beaches are quiet and usually you can get a lot of sun. do research on it and go! Have fun!

Dominican Republic is nice
i have been there & there is lots to do
the best time is aroung the end of the summer & the end of the year (december)

Alaska in late August has great silver fishing... www.solidfishing.com all inclusive lodge and an overall great experience

mexico is cheap...check out deals through priceline for cancun, cozumel, playa del carmen....your bound to get somethin for a good price.
