Most of the new testiment was written before 100A.D.
Luke some believe is actually the result of an interview Luke did with Mary(how else would there be such details of Our Lords early life).
Mark is considered the first of the gospels to be written and Mathew is believed to have had access to the gospel of saint Mark

Matthew written approx 70 A.D.
Luke written after 64 A.D.
"Final editing"of the gospel according to John is said to have accured between 90 and 100AD.

Acts was written by Luke so it was written before his death whenever that was.

All the New Testiment is ' is a collection of various early writtings brought together for our convienence.

try these links they may help. i don't have the dates handy sorry. i will give a brief answer to some of your questions though

1)the old testament spans from creation up until 1800yrs before jesus came, the texts of the new testament were finished approximately 100 years after his death and resurrection.

2)the early christians were catholic(universal). the church decided what was to be the official canon of the bible at an ecumenical council-the canon up until this council was pretty much the same amongst the early catholic church the council just made it official. this link will give more detail on the council and the process
http://www.catholicapologetics.org/ap030700.htm

3)the jews themselves had no official canon until the christian church was formed, this was done to counter the growth of the christian church(seen as a threat by non christians).

4) not all books were added as some were decided not to be inspired by god, many of the gospels people speak of came some 200-400 years after the canon of the bible was declared. there was thousands of writtings at the time, the catholic church had to sift through them all to decide the canon that pertained to the christian faith.

5)the catholic bible has 73 books whilst the protestant bible has 66. this change came from the reformation. martin luther an ex priest from germany had problems with a fault the catholic church had at the time regarding indulgences, the catholic church rectified the problem but during this time martin luther in his protest deleted 6 books from the bible,he edited and shortened 3 others and added the word "alone" to the book of romans, knowing full well the origional text did not have the word in it. luther wanted to delete the book of hebrews and the book of revelations, it was by chance these 2 books made the protestant bible.

hope this and the links help, god bless.

you could look up all this information. I've figured that the safest and most logical answer is that the protestant (regular, non-catholic) Bible is the whole and most trustworthy version. If God is powerful enough to create the earth, and even mess with the pharoah's free will, I'm pretty certain he's not gonna allow his Holy Word to become corrupted. Go to family radio.com if you're interested in a very biblical and trustworthy (might seem out there) opinion. They are preaching the true gospel, despite what other derogatory remarks are being said. Remember, the general masses and most large movements are under deception. I know this is more than you asked, but it's important, so give it a look.

The bible was written over a series of time in BC and different people who experienced God wrote it. Everything that's written after Jesus was born is a part of the new testament, which is why the gospels are in the new testament. That's why the bible has been around for such a long time.
