My cocker spaniel needs to be taught how to lay down. Plaz tell me any tricks or anything. i tought him sit, stay and come, and gimme-five. Hes good at all of them and i could teach him lay down with a lil help. I got plenty of food for him for the process to reward him.

Have him sit down.
Have a treat in your hand and show him the treat (bring it close to his nose).
When he notices the treat and tries to lick/gnaw on it, hold onto the treat and bring your hand down to the ground and the dog should naturally "lay down" as he follows the treat.
If he doesn't, gently push his shoulder blade area with your other hand to encourage him to lay down.
While he moves to lay down, say "lie down" or "down" (whatever command you want to use) and then let him have the treat.

Put it to good use, you need a good hand command, that always helps. So use the food, voice and hand to control him. It might be better to tell him to sit first, then tell him down (or what word you use) only three times, and if he doesn't make him lay down, be gentle and tell him down, stand up and if he says give him a treat, if he doesn't repeat the process until he does. have him sit first, then say "down" don't say "lay down" as more than one word can confuse a dog. Then holding the treat lower it to the floor, put gentle pressure between the dogs shoulders to make him go down. After a few times he will get the idea.
