She has always been healthy, she is 8 which i think is not young, but not old for her breed. In the past year when she sleeps she has been what i thing would be called snoring / sounds like snoring? It seems to be getting louder, i can actually hear her under my bed with the t.v. on. She other wise is acting fine. Could this be that she just started a snoring thing or could it be something else? Anyone have a dog start this at this age after never doing it before? Thanks!

I have two Yorkshire Terriers, and I love them to death. Penny is 6 and Lucy is 4. Penny weighs about 6 pounds and has a body that is a larger frame for a Yorkie, so she is thin. Lucy has a smaller frame, but weighs 6 1/2 to 7 pounds. She is a portly dog. Ever since the weight gain in her - she has started snoring often - and breathing heavily in the night.

I relate this back to myself. In August of 2005, I weight 255 pounds at a height of 6'2" and now I weigh 193 pounds. My wife has told me that I no longer snore at night - but that I did every night when I was heavier.

Is it possible that your dog is a little bit overweight? If so, maybe it would not hurt to put her on a weight control dog food to bring her weight down just a little bit. See if the snoring stops with that.

If she is not overweight, it could be tied to the way that she is sleeping. I have found that Lucy is more likely to snore when sleeping on her back - instead of curled into a ball.

Those are my two ideas. Hope that helps.

I have an 11 year old chihuahua that snores like a cartoon bear! As long as your baby has been to the vet and he isn't seeing any problems, do what I do, turn up the t.v. and laugh at the sounds coming from under the bed!
