Stay away from any fast food. It's way too fatty and full of calories. Replace a meal with a salad, its low in calories and is very filling. Try some Special K cereal for breakfast, or egg beaters. Egg beaters are way less calories than regular eggs. Check labels and go for things with a small amount of calories per serving. Try some fruits and vegetables too instead of other side dishes. Fruits have natural sugar that is good for you. The processed stuff is not good for you. I would also recommend staying away from caffiene as it makes you hungry. It's ok to splurge once in a while. I myself will have something I've been craving at least every 2 weeks. Don't go crazy and have a pig out feast or anything, but have something little to satisfy your sweet tooth or whatever it is you want. Looking at labels will really open your eyes to what is healthier. You can also research some websites and they will tell you the healthiest foods to eat, it's a good way to get some ideas.

Hello:

The best foods to avoid if you are trying to lose weight is junk food, foods that are deep fried, and of course bad carbohydrates! Bad carbohydrates are things like white bread, white pasta, white rice, white potatoes, flour, sugar etc... Instead choose foods such as whole grains, fresh fruits, fresh vegetables,1% milk or Skim milk, and choose healthier desserts such as animal crackers,or graham crackers. Meats such as chicken, turkey, and fish are better choices than red meat, because they are lower in saturated fat,and with chicken for instance, you can buy the skinless, boneless chicken breasts, which will save you alot of calories, instead of eating a hamburger. You can still eat a hamburger once a week, but chicken, turkey, and fish are better options!! ;-)

Also, try to stay away from regular soda pop instead drink things like water, milk 1% or Skim, and of course 100% fruit juice and vegetable juice. In order to lose weight you should exercise for at least 30 minutes a day,the recommended amount of exercise is actually 60 minutes a day,but start off slow! ALWAYS check with your doctor FIRST before you start any exercise program. I wish you the best of luck and I know that you will do well on your new lifestyle plan!! ;-)

High saturated fat foods, foods that use a lot of sugar & fat. Highly refined foods (white bread, etc). Foods that have been fried, or have a butter heavy sauce.

Check out Bob Greene's recommendations on his diet site. Or check the book You On A Diet out from the library. Very good guides and easy to follow food advice.

Avoid anything that is not whole grain and stay away from sugar and fatty foods. Eat more fruits and vegetables and less processed food which often contains high quantities of sodium.

Start by cutting out all soda [including diet] and alcohol. Increase your water consumption to 64 ounces. Cut out all chips/doritos/cheese puffs. Reduce white bread and sugar and increase activity [try walking 30 minutes a day 5 times a week].
