No, you don't have to be killed by friendly fire to be a hero. Although we are both committing hearsay when we attempt to rationalize as to why Tillman went into the army, I'm sure it wasn't for any reason involving Halliburton business interests.

You may be right that no one is in the army because of patriotism, however I must disagree that people join the army because of an 'inability to face mainstream America'.

I think mainstream America has an inability to face the military. You say these people 'run for cover like liches to recruiting center, without even getting info who they fighting for, this is plain stupiditiy.'

Aside from your obvious inability to properly place verbs in your writing, most people that may be categorized into 'mainstream America' wouldn't qualify for military enlistment. What does that say? People that cannot even join the military due to moral and physical disqualifications certainly have no place criticizing it.

And trust me, people in the army aren't 'brainless jacks'. Based on your comments, it seems you are a brainless jack. You generalize the motive of every individual who joined or is in the process of joining the military.

And if you had brains, you would realize 'right' and 'wrong' being subjective moral terminologies do not requires brains they require an understanding of the prevalent moral attitude of a given society. Thus, given the current moral attitude of this society, your comments would be considered wrong and otherwise inscrupulous. Get a life, idiot.

no, one way to be a hero is to give up being a professional football player, turn down more money than you could ever use and serve your country. pat tillman paid the ultimate price...its unfortunate that in the midst of battle friendly fire killed him but sh*t happens...is he any less of a hero, no he is the defintion of hero...when are people going to realize...an agressor brought the battle to us...we didn't start this crap...and so what its not going fast enough for people...show me where it say wars are fought and done with in a few days or weeks?? it doesn't if it was going to be easy it would just be the way....would you rather wake up every day and have to pray to allah or pay respects to a red star or you know..just go get your starbucks in your big suv and listen to people like mrs clinton tell you what is good for you and your family all the while she is the one getting richer??? just my 2 cents

To insult the memory of Tillman by calling him a brainless jack is inexcusable. The rest of your inane "question" also shows just how assinine and insulting you are. It's sad to think that our brave soldiers are fighting to support the right for you to make such an *** of yourself, which shows just how "heroic" our soldiers are.

Please do us all a favor and crawl back into the slime from whence you came. You are unintelligent, uninformed, and a shame.

When we are at war, anyone who is brave enough to volunteer to risk their lives by joining the military is a hero in my book. These brave men and women do this even though those they leave behind people at home who suffer their absence and are always afraid for their loved one. They do this so that people like you have the freedom to ask stupid questions that tick other people off. You could always move to China where the freedom to use the internet is very limited.

When you were typing your question, did you bothered to see that little box on the top right, it has a little check mark with abc and to make it a bit dummy or in your case stupid proof, they wrote "Check Spelling". I guess that they are right, it is a lot easier to join the local community college than to join the Armed Forces. Chances are that you are a professional student taking a polsci course and now you think that you know the rest of the story.

You live in a safe country that is protected by the armed services with their blood and sweat. This has been done over 200 years. Next you will be saying that we should not have police or firemen. There is patriotism but not in your heart.
The military acts as a fire dept and police force for the USA and been placed as a worldly one after WWII. For scum like you, I have and my fore fathers have protected your worthless family living like white trailer thrash in a free country. Don't like move out.

I don't know charro, but let's find out!, j/k

It's obvious we need some sort of gps transceiver on units to keep friendly fire at a minimum. Give him a break he went to war and was killed by his buddies...

Yes. I'm sure your own troops would only be too happy to kill you with friendly fire. I'm not sure if you'll be a hero.
