Instead of throwing open the gates between us and Mexico how about if we took prisoners out of the overcrowded prisions everyday to do the jobs that illegal aileans are doing now?? It would be even cheeper labor and why should prisoners just sit around all day taking college coarses, working out, watching TV, or even sitting in a cell?? Put them to work. We hav a huge un used work force!

You know what? Ur actually right about that. I'm not so sure it will work, though. People are the biggest hippocrites these days is what's the problem. Now, they don't say anything, but if we were to use prisoners to do all the work, they'll say that that is abuse. That we are abusing the prisoners and using them to do all of our work for us. Ur right about it though. Maybe you could take it to Congress and the Supreme Court and get a bill passed. The chances of that are slim, but it could happen.

Edit to the Oilfield Dude: Ur right about that too. People will be wanting equal pay, but that's becoming more and more like communism when you do that.

Would you want a prisoner cutting your lawn?? Good chance the out door gas grill would be gone, and yes... hell yes... he would be eyeing your 13 year old daughter. It would take much supervision, and state prisons barely squeak by on the pittance they receive to make ends meet. I 100% agree with you that they should be put to work !!! Your idea has merit, it just needs to be tweaked here and there to become reality. At least you are one of the few who are thinking of alternate plans.

Taking about worrying about a prisoner cutting your yard, you must live somewhere liberal. I would be watching the prisoner as much as I could, and if something goes missing, he is close by. If my daughter says he did something to her, then you kill him.

The soft hammer and the hard hammer. The government gives them the chance to improve their lifestyle and shorten their sentences through good works, and if they step out of line the public acts as the hard hammer and puts them in their place. Or the ground.

Considering that 30% of the prison population is comprised of illegal aliens, No.
You would just be trading one type of illegal alien for another.

Too many cry baby groups out there would cry about unfair work environments etc. they would want equal pay for equal work. Too many liability's in the work environments. Do you really want an inmate with a death wish working in a meat packing plant. All those chemicals around to drop in your ground beef.

i like your thinking on this. however, it would be ruled unconstitutional in the courts because prison labor can be used for PUBLIC projects and NOT as employees for the PRIVATE sector.
