humanity. back in the day, there wasn't a million mcdonalds in every city and parents were cooking for their kids instead of fast food all the time. i believe that it is the parenting that is a big aspect in obesity today. Parents let their kids do for the most part whatever they want, eat whatever they want. Technology has a part but if you took your kid to the baseball field or played a little sports with your child, it wouldn't be so bad. yes it is easier to find things and you can shop from you couch, but it is called self motivation and people need to get it. Nintendo did make a small step into it though with the Wii. I have a Wii and it is tiring. It helps get the heart beat up and you get to play video games at the same time. I am a big halo fan and work in the IT department but do work out 5 times a week so keep fit (very rare in the IT department, at least mine). so in MY opinion, I believe it is more parents being more linient, and self motivation that is the problem.

I don't blame it on technology alone. Something else is going on. Obesity wasn't an epidemic problem until recently. Now it's even affecting people in countries with no previous obesity problems. I think it has more to do with our stressful and busy lifestyles coupled with less time to cook. We eat more processed food than ever before. We eat more fast food than in previous generations. We sleep less. We work longer hours. We're always in a hurry. The automatic dishwasher may be taking care of the dishes, and the automobile may get us places faster, but now we're spending more time at work to pay for all this technology. Or so it seems.
