Get a Jake decoy too. It will help lure in the gobbler. I answered your other question too.

You'll get all sorts of opinions on when, where and how to use dekes when turkey hunting. I believe that all of these ideas will work some of the time. There are times that jake dekes will bring in an angry tom, but there's also times when jakes will scare a gobbler away. While some tactis work some of the time, I try to find out what gives me the best chance at success most of the time.
I've gotten a lot of good info from people who've ben hunting turkeys for a long time, and the best advice I've gotten (and the adivce I always follow) is this:
I usually stay away from jake or tom decoys. Hen decoys, if they are realistic, rarely scare away gobblers. Depending on the time of season, and where I'm hunting I'll use different spreads or decoys. In later seasons, I sometimes don't use decoys at all. The number of decoys I'll use varies from 2 to 10. In pressured areas, or when the toms don't seem to be wanting to come into my dekes, I'll use a lot of decoys so they think there's a big flock there. I never use the "alert" or upright hen dekes, as this position shows that the hen is looking out for something, possibly a threat. This can often make a tom skittish, or scare him off altogether. I also rarely use a single hen decoy. Single hens are often on the nest, and don't want to be bothered by a tom. The toms know this, and sometimes will leave the hen alone.
Different tactis work at different times, with different birds. A big part of the fun of turkey hunting is figureing out what the birds want.

The hen decoy alone will work, but your chances of success would be greatly increased with the jake decoy added. It will irritate a gobbler when he sees it. A couple of years ago I used hen and jake decoys on an old tom. At first he got spooked ((I don't know why, just being a turkey I guess) and started to leave in a hurry then he spotted the decoys and came staight back to me and a nice open shot.

You can have luck with just the hen decoy. If that doesnt work, then add a jake. The hen decoy will keep the turkeys attention if he comes all the way in to you. If he doesnt come all the way in, try adding a jake next time you hunt that area.

NO you don't need a jake decoy all the big gobbler is interested in is the hen anyway because spring is mating season. It could possibly help in getting him towards you if you can make jake calls to make him jealous so to speak.

Lots of times the hen by herself will work just fine. But a mature "Tom" will go nuts if he see's an immature "Jake" attempting to mount a hen.
This is one of the best ways to set up a hen/jake decoy set. It works.

Just the hen will work, however if you add a Jake to your spread you may have better luck harvesting a big ol' Tom. I use two hens and a Jake for my spread. I position one hen about 10 yards away from the other two. Then I put my Jake just behind my second hen as if about to start mating. This set up works great. (for me anyways) Good Luck and more importantly have fun.

That blend is imitating a breeding pair. purely place the fowl on the floor and the jake in the back of her so his abdomen is touching her lower back. If it particularly isn't any longer windy, the fowl decoy ought to stay there. you should use a small wood dowel to make a stake to hold her in place in case you like. massive toms circulate loopy while they think of a jake is breeding one among his hens so the set-up is relatively effective. purely be careful every time you utilize a jake decoy on public land or the place others could be looking. have self belief it or no longer, many human beings have their decoys shot consistent with annum and because a jake is criminal to reap, it particularly is risky to apply one with a number of the idiots accessible wandering around the woods. Be secure and revel on your turkey dinner.
