there is a can of salmon in the cupboard and i'd like to use it to make fish cakes, but there is no expiry date on it. it could have been there for 2 years. should i use it or not?

Yes, it will expire, and there should be a code on the can. Most canned goods lose their food value when old. If the can is bulging, definitely throw it away.

I would avoid it like the plague. Canned salmon tends to give people botulism when it's more or less "fresh". If you suspect any canned fish could have been around for two years, throw it out! Otherwise, you're asking for it.

Last time I used canned salmon it made me sick. Canned products to have a life, are you sure there is no date on the lid or the bottom?

I'd pitch it.

Nope. That's probably why you shouldn't eat it.

It"s probably from before they started dating cans for expiration... like 1970 or something.

yes any thing put in a can has an expiration date.

it is still good i sale it at my work and it has a shelf life of 10 yrs
