Sometimes you need to be by yourself, I think the answer to your question depends on the type of person you are and where you are in your life. Relationships are hard work, but should be rewarding. No one wants to be alone for ever, but there are times in our lifes when we need to be alone. If you are feeling down at the moment, take some time out from relationships, have a rest from it all and take the time to find out what you want, what you have to give and what you need. Its actually a really good thereaputic thing to do. When you are feeling stronger and happier then think about exploring a relationship again. You must not go into a relationship carrying old baggage nor expect a new partner to "save" you or "heal" you from past experiences, only you can do that for yourself.

Yes, it takes up to much energy pretending to be something your not, Plus you are the only one who gets hurt when you dont find what you are looking for by putting on a front :)

its always better to just be yourself. Changing who you are for someone else is wrong. BE YOURSELF

If you mean not in a relationship with "commitments," then yes.
There's no reason you can't date around but still go home to YOUR place with YOUR stuff at the end of the day.
