If you have any, ANY experience doing it, in the Bay Area you'll start out at $15-$17/hr no matter whether it's a hotel or small shop.

I get paid about $13 an hour on salary... I've been with the same pastry shop for a year and a half, right after I graduated from culinary school.

General advice for anyone- don't work for a mom and pop - they will treat you like crap, no benefits, low wages. Go to a big, expensive hotel, such as four seasons. You will have benefits, learn more and it will look better on your resume. In the northeast you can expect to make about 18 per hour at least.
