Or at least use a cake recipe and replace the sugar with a fake sweetener, malt barley, or very ripe fruit!

A loaf of french bread, split open and oven-baked crisp on the outside with Brie melted in it. Pop a candle on top, serve it with coffee or a nice ice-cold bottle Pinot Grigio and some pickled artichoke hearts and sautee'd bell peppers and onions, and party party party! Or, you could give him a bottle of Jack Daniels with a candle on top. That's always a good b-day cake to offer. It ain't sweet, well sweeter than most whiskeys, but it doesn't count as a sweet for Lent.

Bread pudding
Simply fresh fruit with cream.
Banana bread made into muffins with sweet butter as frosting (walnut butter - Beat 1/2 c butter, 1/4 c chopped walnuts, 2 Tablespoons packed brown sugar, then chill). Would look like frosting then. Maybe even a bit of food coloring in it.

Take pretty glasses
put in fruit, then whipped heavy cream (no sugar)
keep alternating between the two until you end up with the cream. You can even add some toasted almonds or nuts on top
