My reasons for dating people? Because it's fun to have others to share life events with, and of course intimacy and affection.
Why do I like having a boyfriend? See my answer above.
Why is it so bad to be single? I wasn't aware that it was. I've been single for the better part of a decade...just because people are in relationships or open to being in them, doesn't mean they have any issue with 'singlehood'. I've had some of the best times of my life as a single.

Being single isn't bad at all. With marriage, it's nice to be able to come home and have someone there for you day and night as well as go out and do things together as a couple.

Being single can't be as bad as being married. However, we were brought up in life that it's normal to get hitched when one reaches adulthood. Life is but a cycle!
