They will not lay a fertile egg without a nest box, they may lay an egg without a nest box but it will not be fertil, as in it will not have a baby inside.Fist of all the pair has to be bonded, wich means they have to regurgitate to each other(people mistake this for kissing), preening each other.etc.When they have become bonded ,that is when you should provide the nest box.The male will inspect it first and fix it all up to impress the female ,if she doesnt like it ,he will do a makeover. The female and the male both have to be in breeding condition. For the female her cere(fleshy part above the beak)will become brown and crusty, and the males should be and intense blue.Once all these things happen ,you will notice the female going into the nest box more and more often. She is probably getting ready to lay an egg at this time. She will lay an egg every other day.She may lay up to 10 eggs, but it doesnt mean all of them will be fertile.Once the 2nd egg is layed she will start incubating them.In about 13- 18 days from the begging of incubation ,the chicks should hatch and should remain with their parents for at least 5 weeks or until they could feed on their own.It is not recommended for a hen to have more than 2 clutches a year. She will become very weak and die sooner or later. She should also have a cuttle bone so she can use it to form the eggs.I think that is all.I tried wrapping it up.lol

I would give your birds a couple of weeks to bond together. Then you should put in a nest box. I always line my boxes with shavings but Budgies seem to kick out all the shavings and lay the eggs on the floor of the box.
The male usually checks out the box first. If you catch them in the act it might be about 10 days after that before she lays an egg.
The egg takes about 23 to 25 days to hatch. That always isn't true because the incubation starts when the bird sits tight on the eggs. Sitting tight is when she is always on them. She might sit from the first egg or the 3rd egg.
The eggs that are fertile will hatch every other day in the order they were laid.
For their first clutch I wouldn't expect any. You might get 1 or 2. It takes a couple of times for them to get it right.
I hope this helps.

First, put a nest box in the cage and some string, straw, and twigs in the bottom of the cage. When they are ready to lay an egg, the male will begin making the nest in the nesting box. It might take a few days to a few weeks for the egg to hatch, but it should take around 3-4 weeks for the eggs to begin hatching. Don't freak out if it takes longer or shorter. It is fine.

It depend how old they are a parakeet has to be about 4 months old to lay an egg (if you let her set she will lay more to form a clutch) then it should take the eggs about 21 days to hatch! good luck!

If you really want to breed, wait at least 1 1/2 years. These birds sound like they are still babies, and that is not medically a safe time to let them attempt to breed. They will need to mature, be put on a good BREEDING diet, not seeds that is birdie junk food. Also, make sure that they are not related!!! If you breed birds that are related the chicks will either be severly damaged genetically or will not survive at all.
YOU will need to do LOTS of work and research.
If your birds abandon the chicks or refuse to feed, you will have to step in and feed the chicks. This is AROUND THE CLOCK. They would then need to be in a brooder so they could digest their food properly, otherwise they will die. If they are handfed incorrectly, they can die a very slow, painful death from crop burn, slow crop, pneumonia, or infection.
I'll go into a short list of things that you as a responsible person will need to do before allowing your birds to breed.
First, do not put the nest box in the cage until you do your research.
Go to the book store and purchase a book on how to raise and breed budgies.
Go to the vet and learn how to properly handfeed, just in case they toss or abandon the chicks. They can also help you out if your hen becomes eggbound. This can be and is usually fatal if not treated immediently.
Find buyers for any and all chicks that hatch, before you let them breed. There are LOTS of birds out there due to overbreeding that are in need of homes, most are cockatiels and budgies (parakeets) due to the ease of breeding these birds.
Why do you want to breed? Is it to better the species, or because you think they need to?
Do you know the background of both birds?
Did their parents have any problems?
Are your birds on a good breeding diet?
Do they have enough calcium to prevent eggbinding?
Do they have fresh foods offered daily?
If you cannot answer all of those questions, then I would not breed.
If they are not on a good breeding diet, pellets, fresh foods, and very little seed, you may loose one of your birds during the breeding, or have chicks that are sickly.
Here is another good resource for breeding birds.

i consider each person, they're suitable, they lay an egg each 2 days and customarily they lay one known, now, note, women can change into egg certain, if u observe her doing the puffed up panting ingredient non-provide up and not stops after some hours than she could be egg certain, the perfect ingredient to do is take her to the vet if she turns into eggbound, yet when u cant do this, attempt putting her cage on the rest room floor and activate the nice and cozy water interior the bathe and close the bathe curtian or bathe door, which will provide her more effective humidity and help her to push it out, yet what ever u do, do it quick, at the same time as women r eggbound, they very last purely 24 hours or a lot less.

My sister has a male and female parakeet in the same cage too. There has to be an ideal spot to lay it, or they probably won't (ours haven't)

They have to mate. In order to get them to want to mate you need a nesting box in the cage but sometimes they will mate without one. You will need one though because the babies need a nest.
