If I buy windows vista ultimate, do i need(or want)a ultimate upgrade? will my games still work-they work 4 XP

i was thinking about getting vista over the summer but i am unsure and it would be a very expensive mistake to make-please give input!

Download from microsoft the vista upgrade advisor and then take its advise
