Northface, Eureka, Coleman are all worthy brands. I bought a Coleman at Target 3 years ago and use it about 3 weekends a month in the spring and summer. I love it and wouldn't trade it for any other tent. It is a 6 person three room tent.
But any tent can leak. Be sure to use a ground tarp under the tent and put seam sealer on all seams and zipper areas before you use it to ensure that your tent won't leak.

Being a manager for a large sporting goods company, I can basically purchase any tent I choose.
The brand I prefer, based on cost and quality, is Eureka. I own 3 tents, all Eureka tents. The oldest is now about 14 years old, has been used over 150 nights and has yet to develop a leak. The seams, though factory sealed, were given a very generous coating of seam sealer and it is perfectly dry.

They have all the styles and qualities available. Personally, I like the cabin tents because of the head room. The other styles get to your back from all the bending. The cabin tents are the "real" size as the others are tappered sides and the actual area you can use is far less than over all size! They also make tents in various materials some of which are "waterproof" while others are "water resistant"- huge difference! If you are intrested in "air beds" coleman makes the only "guaranteed" not to leak or full replacement!

You don't have to spend a lot of money to get a tent that will keep you dry. Get some seam sealer which is a stick you rub on all of the seams. There is also a spray that you can put on the rest of your tent. Also don't put your tarp under your tent, water can still get between the tent and the tarp, put it inside your tent, that way you will not get wet. Make sure nothing is touching the tent wall or it will get wet with dew.
