When we would go up north to the summer cottage, we would go raspberry picking.

As kids we used to put one raspberry in the bucket, and then the other got stuffed in our mouths. We did this until the bucket was full, our hands and faces were stained red, and we were so full we could't eat our supper. We never got sick even though I imagine we must have eaten our share of leaves and small bugs at the same time since we had not even rinsed the berries off!

It made some great raspberry jam and bumbleberry pie too.

I have spent many a happy day up to my armpits in a rasberry patch, picking rasberries. Unlike their commercial cousins they do not hold well at all and it is very possible that the rasberries you picked in late afternoon will be moldy by breakfast.
So only pick what you can use in a short time.

Yep. It's possible. But they are really nasty. My mom bought some once and they ended up rotting in the fridge because no one wanted to eat them.
