Stay active and be with people as much as you can. No job is forever. When you are ready go looking for something that suits you better get out there and look around. The next time you see your doctor be sure to tell him or her that you are still depressed. The antidepressants you are on might not be the right one for you. Keep in mind that life does change and at some point, you will feel differently. This is temporary. Hang in there.

Keep in mind that anti-depressants also take some time to kick in, so you can be on them for up to a month without really feeling like they're helping.
Would you hate your job if you weren't suffering from depression? If the answer to that is yes, maybe you should look into making some career and life changes. The average American works well into their seventies these days, and fifty+ years is a LONG time to spend doing something you hate doing 40 hours a week. Think about your life goals (if you don't have any right now, look at what you remember wanting a few years back) and do what you can to reach them, no matter what age you are.

It could be that your antidepressants aren't working for you. Call the health care provider and tell them that you're not getting enough relief from the depression. They may change your dosage or change your medication.
When I'm down, I rent comedy DVDs. I try to escape and laugh as much as I can. It helps me.

well, usually it's a huge combination of things and i really beat myself up about it. i completely withdraw from everything and don't talk to anyone.
i just recently got over being depressed, i found that it really helps (i know it sounds crazy >) if i sort of talk to myself. not out louad, but i give myself a little pep talk. i tell myself what i have to live for, about the people that love me...etc.
just think to yourself or write down all the good things you have.
=)

If you are taking anti-depressants (which work to elevate seratonin levels in your brain), and they are not enough--you are still not feeling happy, content, or at peace, you may have low beta-endorphins (BEs).

think of how awesome the weekend is going to be. think of how much you love watching your favorite tv show. outline your better qualities. go to a church. and if you look at your job as a gloomy event, then it will be.
