I am about 100 lbs over weight, and want to lose it by March '08, but I work two jobs and never have time to go to the gym. Anyone have any suggestions?

Change your diet. If you want, I'll do a diet analysis on you. If you want that email me with your age, height, weight, and activity level. I know you don't work out, but between your two jobs, are you walking around a lot or sitting at desks all day? From there I'll be able to calculate how many calories you need and I'll have you keep a food journal for an entire week. I'll plug all that in and see what foods you're getting too much of, what you need more of, etc. Email me at kalliea923@yahoo.com if you want it.

Just like the extra weight didn't come on instantly, it won't go off so.

Fortunately, I do have suggestions- and I promise, none of them have ANYTHING to do with the gym!

1)Get a good pair of shoes and walk everywhere you can.
2)Drink extra water. It will keep you hydrated and fill up space that you would otherwise use for food. Also, if you drink sodas, cut back.
3)Don't eat fried food. And look carefully at fast food: Both tend to be loaded with grease and salt.
4)Get a steamer/double boiler from your local department store and use that to cook your meals. You can put your rice or potatoes or whatever in the bottom and steam your vegetables in the top. It works nearly as fast as a microwave if not faster, tastes better, and preserves the flavor and nutrition in your food better than conventional boiling.
5)Get whole-grain breads instead of the regular white: That is actually very tasty, and will fill you up faster.
6)Get fresh fruits and vegetables for snacks.
7)Eat lots of small meals rather than 2 or 3 big ones: Your body will get used to a fairly constant supply of food and so won't try to hold onto the calories.

Good luck, Honey! I'll be cheering for you!

If your jobs are close to home, you could try walking to and from them instead of driving. If they're further away, you could walk to the bus stop and ride the bus to work- you'd still be getting a little more excercise. And if you drink soda regularly, you can lose a good deal of weight just from cutting out soda. My friend started drinking soda water instead of sugary soda and lost about 20 pounds. Also, if you drink coffee or tea regularly, use skim milk and artificial sweetener instead of cream and sugar.

You can increase your activity level by simply parking further from the entrance of the building where you work and use the stairs instead of the elevator. You also need to eat regular healthy meals and cut out the quick snacks as you go from one job to the other. If you need to munch on something between meals use raw carrots, celery, and other veggies or fruit.

1 year is a good amount of time to lose 100 pounds.
Extend the dedication you have to your work towards your eating habits.
Exercise really doesn't take as long as you think, unless you spend too much time thinking about it beforehand and afterwards! The time you take eating a banana split is equivalent to that of a fast paced 15 minute cardio jog.

The road to failure is paved with excuses. don't just think, act!
