There's far more of the latter than atheists. Two of the biggest proponents of evolution: Ken Miller and Francis Collins. THEY'RE CHRISTIANS. But I guess you guys persecute them as well. Doesn't Miller have a bomb-squad to check his hate mail?

Well, it seems that they want to convert the Atheists to Christianity. The others are already there. The more they harass the Atheists the more the Atheists hold their ground.

but probably because there are so many versions of christianity, everyone from catholics to jehovah's witnesses consider themselves christians, and bash the other christian religion for not being false christians.

I think its because creationists assume that people that believe in evolution do it to attack their religion or their bible.
