I have a huskie a little under a year old. She seems to have a very dry nose. And its covered with a dry mucus. Im not sure what it is. She seems to be coughing alot as well.. Could this be just a common cold and like humans works its way out? Or is this something more?

Thank you for stating the obvious with "be a responsible pet owner take her to the vet" Honestly I wouldnt come to yahoo answers unless i've done the obvious. I took her to the vet. They put her on "clavamox" an antibiotic for kennel cough. But I live on a military base, and our vets arnt exactly top notch. I didnt want to mention that in the question because I didnt want to sway all the answers to result in that. I was hopfully looking for something different.. or some kind of "home remedy" to get her nose to moisten up.

Kennel cough (bordatella) is an upper respiratory infection that is very easy for dogs to pick up -- nose-to-nose contact through the fence with an infected dog can do it.

It is not a cold (like humans get) which is caused by a virus. This is caused by a bacteria, and needs to be treated with antibiotics/cough suppressant before it turns into something worse.

You would be wise to get her into the vet, and severely limit her contact with other dogs.
