Just a few minutes ago, my cat was over on the couch playing. My mum keeps a needle and 3 pins pinned into the arm of the couch for easy acess. I saw her eating something, and when I went over to see what it was, she had pulled out all 3 pins from the couch. 2 were gone and she was attempting to eat the third.
I'm not sure if she actually ate them, or just pulled them out and they dropped somewhere. She's pretty lively right now, but I can't find the other pins, which where there 10 minutes ago when I was sitting on the couch.
Can anyone tell me how they will affect her and how to know if she in fact did. Our family is going through a hard time, and if at all possible, it would be good if we didn't have to go see a vet, but I would do anything to keep her healthy.
Update-now (it's been about 15 minutes after the incident) she's lying on the couch looking very tired and depressed, which is very odd for her
PLEASE HELP ME ASAP

You need to take the cat to the vet ASAP. If she ate the needles or pins, they could puncture her stomach and intestines and kill her. The vet will have to take an x-ray to make certain whether or not the cat did ingest the pins. Sometimes they can remove foreign objects like this from the cat's tummy without surgery. They use a tube like tool inserted through the mouth to grab and pull the foreign object(s) up and out. But you need to take the cat NOW before any damage is done.

I doubt your cat would develop a serious issue within 15 minutes, but you need to take her to a vet right away. They can x-ray her and see if the pins are there. I don't know what they will do for a cat, but I used to know someone who's kid (teenager) accidentally swallowed a pin he'd been picking his teeth with and they simply x-rayed him every few days to make sure that the pin was still progressing through his system. Like I said, I don't know if the case will be the same for the cat since it's system is much smaller than a human's.

The pins could cause her serious harm!! The only way to know for sure is with X-rays at a vet's. Take her to a vet's immediatly!!! After you have gotten through whatever procedure is required (whether she ate them or not and what-have-you) then discuss a payment plan with the vet. Every second counts if she did in fact consume a pin. LOAD HER UP AND GO ! ! !

I'm afraid we can't help, only a vet can.

Cats do swallow pins, oddly enough, and they can cause serious problems as they will likely puncture the intestine, causing a serious infection.

Get her to the vet ASAP, BEFORE the pins have a chance to pass through into her gut.

I'm sorry this has happened, it's one of those freak things, but there really is no way to avoid cost in this situation.

If you've looked everywhere for the pins and truly think she has swallowed them, you need to see a vet. Often cats do not show a lot of signs when they're in pain; many will only start howling or meowing when it gets very, very severe. Don't wait for that to happen. If your cat needs a lot of care, many vets will discuss a payment plan or something.

Take her to the vet, NOW! Tell your vet that you're in a tough financial situation right now & need to work out a payment plan. Most vets will be willing to work with you if you're up-front about your financial situation, especially if you already have seen that vet before.

Unfortuntely we cannot help you. You need to get her to a vet so that she can be x-rayed and find out. Be careful picking her up in case she did and you dont want her to have internal damage from it piercing her insides.

You need to get to the vet asap! They won't pass on their own and your pet could be seriously suffering! Go now!

get a magnet and go over the entire area or couch and floor first to be extra sure she likely just chewed them if she swolled them i think she would be drooling and meowing excessively
