A bridal shower is a gathering for the bride and her friends, usually organised by the head bridesmaid or matron of honour, or all the bridesmaids together. It can be in the day or the night, and is held at a home, not a restaurant or something.
It basically serves 2 purposes - it allows you to invite all of your friends who you cannot invite to the wedding (so is suitable for coworkers, friends, relatives etc..), as well as those who are going to the wedding also. The other purpose is for the bride to get lots of gifts to allow her to set up her new home, hence the name "shower" to shower with gifts.
Be sure that the bridesmaids who are organising it tells the ones who are invited to both the shower and the wedding that they are not expected to provide a big gift for both - usually they bring a little gift for the shower and their main gift for the wedding. For example, if the theme of the shower is kitchen, then a couple of nice teatowels is perfectly suitable, or whatever fits their budget.
Showers usually have a theme that goes with a room in the house, such as kitchen, bathroom, garden or whatever the bride sees as her main area of lacking. Some people with loads of friends and relatives have a shower for their coworkers in one theme, another shower for relatives in one theme, another for their friends etc...
The shower usually has lots of nice food which you should provide, and party games. Daytimes are common times for the shower. Apart from games other suggestions are to hire a salsa teacher to teach everyone to dance, or a kareoke machine, or a stripper to embarrass the bride, or whatever is suitable.
Good luck.

i could call it Afternoon Tea occasion or Afternoon backyard occasion. in case you utilize the interest Bridal or bathe, human beings would desire to at once think of "bathe" purely out of habit. I liked the define that the different answer wrote. some thing like that works, for the reason that is extremely descriptive yet nowhere does it say "bathe" so this is going to help in making the factor that that's purely an afternoon to spend time with the bride yet no presents. As for nutrition or cake, if your aunt or a detailed buddy can provide that might assist you, take them up on it! yet make no point out of it on the invitation.
