Whenever I try to install an application, such as AIM or Photoshop, I can download it onto my desktop just fine, but when I try to run the file, a pop-up appears with this message: "This application has failed to start because oledlg.dll was not found. Re-installing the application my fix this problem. I have tried to re-install, but nothing works.

Have you tried installing through Safe Mode? That way there shouldn't be any interference.

Safe Mode:

Turn your PC on or Restart. As soon as you see the black and white screen, press and hold the F8 key. Continue holding until you see a black and white menu. Safe Mode is F3 or F5.

Click Start, Programs, run your program.

When it is finished, Restart.

You will probably find your icons messed up. No biggee. Drag them back into place.

If this doesn't work, it may be something got lost in the download. I would try to download again. My personal opinion -- I don't like downloading programs. I prefer the CD.
