Dear Journey,

First i want to make a general observation about the responses i've read from Christians on yahoo answers. I have to say more are un-Christ like in attitude than are Christ-like.

This being said i want to give two explanations for that:

1) Many of the people answering don't have a real relationship with Christ. i've read so many answers that say: "Burn in hell, pagan, etc." (this is not the attitude of Christ). You can't force or scare people into a relationship with God. For those who have a real relationship with God, they understand how wonderful God's love is- and they ought to share it out of love. The Bible has much to say about how Christians use their words.

2) There are those who are well intentioned but quite immature in their faith. i know this as a pastor and i'm on here to answer people's questions to encourage them to know and love God. i'm sometimes surprised by some of the questions or viewpoints Christians on the site ask. However, it's good to know that people are at different places in terms of seeking God and God meets people where they are and grow them.

All this being said- i think your statement speaks volumes because Christians are to be the walking Bible- not just quoting verses- but living out the verses. And i can't answer for everyone but i can just say in my time on yahoo answers i think Christ has been misrepresented by those who aren't Christian but claim to be, and those who are still growing and learning what it means to be in and like Christ.

Hope that helps. Kindly,

Nickster

No, there are a lot of us that get tired of it. That's good that you can differentiate between people calling themselves Christians and Christ. Most people just look at them and use it as a basis for denying christ. But you know what: that question says a lot about your narrow perspective. I mean can't you see that there are many Christians following Christ. You could have said, "am I the only one that is excited about people following Christ". But you choose to look at the hypocrites because you willingly do not believe.

Perhaps it's time to stop complaining about how others act and focus on our own individual actions. It's really easy to complain about how Christians are not acting like Christ but how often do we walk that same path? A person is not responsible for the actions of other but they sometimes have to overcome the effects of another's behavior. That makes it hard but if each individual is willing to do better it makes a difference. Even those who do not act like Christ will consider the results.

As a Christian, I know what you're talking about. There are far too many hypocrites in the Christian church. But you must realize that many people who say they are Christians really aren't. They merely go to church every Sunday because their family drags them to church. They don't actually have a relationship with God. So obviously, they won't act like Christ. Also, real Christians are humans too. We struggle with things because we are all born into sin. We have a sinful nature that we try to overcome with Christ. However, we can't always do that and we sometimes cave to the pressures of sin.

We all falter sometimes but we should know to get up and get back in line and follow Christ's example. Christ teaches us to love but I see that many so-called Christians fail to love others. I can't judge people for what they do. All I can do is live for God the best way I can. When I depart from this earth, I want to hear Him say "Well done".

I am tired of it, and I'm a Christian myself (Catholic).

Sometimes I don't act like Christ and when that is the case I hope you will be patient and understanding because I'm a sinner just like you.

I am trying and with God's help I will perservere.

Remember, it is Christ we follow - NOT Christians. Look to Him for your model.

God bless you.

Ah, a judge we have among us. okay.
Look, you can look for the rest of your life to try to find a perfect individual, and ya just won''t find one. Why? Because there aren't any. Nobody even comes close to the glory of Jesus Christ, unless you speak of the Father.
Why are you tired of people who do not live up to your expectations, when your expectations are not reasonable?
If you want Christ, find Christ. But do not expect to find anyone who will satisfy
your need to find somebody perfect. You will continue to be disappointed.

Of all the ironies that are repeatedly trotted out in this forum, I find this one to be very near the top of the "You Gotta be Kiddin' Me" list.

Are you a Christian? If so, why are you sitting in judgment of your brothers and sisters in Christ? They are responsible to God, not you:

Romans 14:4a Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth.

And if you're not a Christian, you don't believe in Christ, so how you know how He would or wouldn't act? You reject the Bible as historically valid, so you're judging an entire group of people by a standard that you don't even believe in yourself. That makes you even more of a hypocrite than the people you're attacking.

Either way, try considering your own behavior in light of Christ's before you condemn someone else. We all fail to do what He would do, so when you judge others, you're judging yourself:

Romans 2:3 And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?

If we could act like Christ-- we wouldn't have need of a body! So that would defeat the whole purpose of being here! We are not perfect so why post a question such as this? It gets tiring responding to people who find the need to attack our beliefs 24/7. You be nice and then we won't have a problem! :) I forgive you!

Not in the least. Every Christian I know who puts forth daily effort to act along the moral teachings of Christ is disappointed by the sheer numbers of those who offer lip service to religion and yet do nothing about it. Nearly every atheist or agnostic I know who holds little or no animostiy towards Christianity is still disappointed with the behavior of those who fail to act in accordance with their beliefs.

Jesus himself warned of this in the Bible. I wonder how many people actually read that part...
