why do some of them get involved in things that are none of their business, and use their religion to justify their judgement of people? [i'm not saying all do, i tried to get opinions from church goers to see what their church was like, but no answers]

the reason i ask this, is that one of the churches in my area has decided that what members of my family do is their 'personal concern'-- they do not know the whole story of the situation (which centers around a divorce) yet condemn & judge us.

my mother just started going to this church, in an attempt to follow my dad around, and she's got them convinced of her 'righteousness'--and that my dad is completely in the wrong. the church has urged her to try to get us (my brother & i) to not speak to out father, which has resulted in a split of the family. my brother is excommunicated from my mother's side of the family, and we are both 'disowned' as a result of this. we both (and my dad) receive mail from the church saying ...

that we are going to hell, and that we should not have anything to do with our father & we're being bad children by doing so. they basically have turned our mother against us (who has turned her mother against us). isn't there somethign about honoring one's mother & father in the bible somewhere?

also, the harassment has caused my dad to stop going to his church, and my brother & i, and our spouses, have been fully turned against the church now.

why do they think they have the right to harass us? (and they do it anonymously, so we can't even do anything about it)

i get letters from my mother all the time too, pages & pages long. what i get that are anonymous are much shorter, quote bible passages, and use a different style of language than she does. i DO think she may be in on it though--how else would they get our addresses?

my dad's mother goes there as well, and is ridiculed for defending her son. his 90 yr oldgrandmother, also a member, tries to stay out of it but is very upset about the whole thing.

Wow, sounds like a real mess. Fight fire with fire. Get all of your family together and go to the church and talk to the pastor in front of the congregation-- confront the issue, don't run from it. Make sure the whole story is told. Just do it is a nice polite way-it will all go away-and if your mother is wrong, then the church will apologize to you and punish her, or they are a false church-and you can tell the whole congregation that.

If they are causing that much trouble, you can get restraining orders out against the church members who persecute you. After 3 or 4 of those, it will be taken up by the local press and it will stop soon after that. Also make sure you keep and document everything they send you.

It depends on what church they came from. Some Christians are just too .....Christiany (Yes, I made up the word). They consider themselves holy and mighty for believing in God yet, jeopardize themselves by their own hypocracy of the fact that they "sin" more than any other faith. ( no offense to christians out there I'm just speaking the truth.)

It's to convert as many people as possible, (whether their way of doing it is nice, mean, nosy, or judgemental) so they can be at the top of the good deed list have their space reserved right next to their god.
In the end, it doesn't matter to them how they convert you, their gonna convert you til you're baptized into their religion and are fully being one of their sheep.
(Speaking of sheep..you know if one sheep walks off a cliff..the rest will follow? Ironic, eh?)

One of the Ten Commandments says "Honor thy mother and father".

Churches aren't supposed to do that. Maybe your dad can sue them.

If it is anonymously how do you know it is the church. It could be your mother as far as you know. Love and respect your father.

Avoid them. They just want to set traps and embaress you in public, so you will remember the insignificant morons. I know four exactly like what you described. Rude nasty people.

My girlfriend is a christian btw and she does none of that stuff.

The one who leads into corruption will be corrupted. That church is no good, for what God has put together, let no man put asunder.
