I have an 18-year old daughter with Down syndrome. She had open heart surgery when she was 6 months old. She was recently diagnosed with heart block. She will have a pacemaker within the next two weeks.

If you do a google search on "down syndrome" and "heart block" you will find medical reports that there are babies and children with down syndrome who have pacemakers after heart surgery! It is not unusual for persons with Down syndrome to have congenital heart problems.

my daughter is 50 and was having times when her heart skipped about 15 beats or so. She had a pacemaker put in last week. She is doing well. She is strong and healthy.

It is somewhat common for those with down syndrome to have heart conditions. About 40% of those with down syndrome will have some sort of congenital heart defect.

I'm sure there are others like you.
