I have about 1200 square feet of hardwood flooring that needs to be resurfaced. How much would you typically pay per sq. ft.? Or is it priced differently. I live in Eastern Massachusetts.

To respond to the other answer you received: There is no lead in hardwood flooring UNLESS it has been painted with lead based PAINT.
For price, check with your local hardware store for referrals. You can get several phone numbers from different contractors and just call each to find out a basic price for your SQ.FT. in Massachusetts.
Stanley Steamer does refinish floors, but I don't know if they are in your area.
Remember: "Dustless" refinishing means less dust. It does NOT mean no dust.

If you are going to resurface old hardwood flooring, you want to be aware of the fact that when you sand the wood, you may be introducing a lot of lead dust into your air. The dust will settle in your house and float around it in the air as the air moves. Most paints and stains manufactured before 1978 contained lead. The toxic impact on young children before the age of six is serious.
