There's the link to the story. Some Afghans were quoted as saying they were offended at the policy of Afghans using different Porter Potties than Americans and Europeans. Now a Lt. General said that it is not a race issue, it is just the bathroom habits. I agree with him, I would even go as far as saying it is a sanitation and health issue. Afghans and Iraqis have the same bathroom habits to say, when I was deployed in Iraq the Iraqi Army had Porter Potties at their guard posts, and to be nice about it the Porter Potties were disgusting, I would not want to use them. So this policy was implemented on that basis. Once again though someone is crying racism or prejudice when it is plain to see that it is for other non racist or prejudice reasons. Both Afghan and Americans have the same kind of Porter Potties, so no one is being shorthanded either, what's the deal? What do you think?

I'm going to disagree, when I was over in Afghanistan, the afghans were very disgusting using there porter potties. It was sick. I seen some nasty things over there, but the porter potties were the worse. I'd rather walk into one that is in time sqare after a new years eve party. So yes, I think it is because of santitation, not because they can get bombs in there. You and I both know it is almost impossible to get a bomb on a military base over there.

If everyone wants to make an issue about it....then somebody should show then how to use the facility properly ! I have seen some things in those " potties " that are unbelievable.....only the footprints in odd places gave me any clue as to how the feat was accomplished. I guess if you are used to squating over a hole in the ground....a seat for your rear might be beyond your comprehension. Until they learn/ or are taught the logistics of a toilet seat....then they should keep to their own facility !

It may also be an issue of SAFETY. What if a suicide bomber decided the Porter Potties is a good place detonate?

Perhaps also a safety issue -- I'd be really ticked off if I went into a Porta-Pot and got blow up because some insurgent put a bomb inside when he/she used the facility.

It's not racism... it's the f*cken media, they always blow things out of proportion. Yeah, their bathroom habits are f*cked up. Can you imagine an ING f*cken sh!tting in the room you're sleeping in?

I would think another reason would be the military would be afraid of being targeted by insurgents placing IEDs in the johns used by our troops.

Anyone who has ever been to a Muslim country and seen for themselves the way those "people" use the facilities would have absolutely NO problem with this.

"Disgusting" is a drastic understatement.
