I Work as a waitress Don't plan on changing my job I love it.Customers judge and ask why I'm not in school.
Question Details: I love my job and am not planning on quitting anytime soon. I make amazing tips and great pay. It's really getting on my nerves how some customers always ask, Is this what you plan on doing forever? Or do you go to school? I love my job, but I'm starting to detest the customers who tell me how to live my life. Are they right? What should I do?

I would very politely tell them that serving them is what you do best and that you love it and you have no plans to change.

You don't have to actually answer the questions when you feel pressured. Only answer the questions when you feel in the mood or when you are doing your job. Your personal life has very little to do with your customers unless they were regular customers, so don't tell everything.

Try and ignore them. Now if you WANT to go to school, then give it a shot - maybe studying business or hospitality management so you could have your own place someday. No reason you would have to leave your job just to go to school.

Maybe tell them you get much more life satisfaction bringing good service to them.

let your customers know that you love your job and that you don't need to go to school! Keep working and loving your job, don't let them get you down!!! They obviously have never done this kind of work so they wouldn't know what its like!!!

I will just smile and leave without an answer.

You don't have to answers any customer about your personal life, it's your decision to work as waitress and if it works for you and you're happy, to hell everybody else

No, they aren't right. Waitressing is a great source of income.
My advice is to grin and bear it, knowing how much you really do make and you love what you do. And then after your shift, go to bitterwaitress.com and vent!
