'Experience is the best teacher' - I certainly believe that. I have taken some basic photography courses and have been interested in photography all of my life. I believe I'm actually pretty good! I really would like to have the chance to work with a professional portrait photographer though - even just for a couple of weeks or so - to see if I have what it takes. Is there anyone out there willing to take on an apprentice for awhile? In the Wisconsin or Northern Illinois area. I have actually e-mailed a few photographers but didn't even get replies.

for portrait photog. the best experience is to get into the lions den, as they say. I suggest applying at a place called "the picture people" they specialize in family photog with an emphasis on childrens photog.

They train and you get good experience in customer service, random crazy kids, and you learn all sorts of tricks of the trade.

The pay is decent and you get commission on your photos that sell...
