Yes. Aerobic exercise will help raise your serotonin levels. Taking a brisk 20 minute walk will help.
In addition to aerobic exercise, aerobic breathing (deep diaphragmatic breathing) also has the same effect.
The basic 'Breath of Life' has been practiced by yogis for thousands of years and was mentioned by Tony Robbins in his book "Unlimited Power" and his audio tape series "Personal Power."
The basic breath is a 1-4-2 (inhale, hold, exhale) breath. This breath should be done while NOT MOVING. It can be done sitting, standing or lying in bed. I do 10 breaths before I even get out of bed in the morning. I also do them when I watch television or work on the computer.
First you INHALE through your NOSE as deeply as you can for as long as you can without straining. Count as you inhale and remember the number (i.e., 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and 5, etc). Then you HOLD your breath for 4 times the amount of time you inhaled (so if you inhaled for a count of 5, then you would hold your breath for 4x5 or a count of 20). Finally, you EXHALE (blow out through the MOUTH) for 2 times the amount of time of the inhale (again, if you inhaled for 5, then exhale for 2x5 or a count of 10).
For best results, do a set of 10 breaths at a sitting (will take you about 3-5 minutes) at least 3 times per day (at least 30 breaths per day).

yes, sleeping aids the body in producing more.
Also:
"Serotonin is manufactured in the human brain using the essential amino acid tryptophan which is found in foods such as bananas, pineapples, plums, turkey and milk."
also...for fun(perhaps), the body mistakens LSD (yes, the tripping acid) for serotonin!! (same source)
